When considering purchasing a damaged trailer from dealers, be sure to take these facts into consideration…

Be sure to look at the roof lining – many dealers that have severely damage units will line & insulate the ceilings of the trailer. If the damage to the roof is severe enough, lining & insulating will only be a band aid to further damage. If the trailer isn’t lined, over time those dents could turn to holes, leading to a trailer no one wants to own. Consider leaks in the roof also – a band aided lined ceiling that leaks could pose serious issues.

Look for damage to the sides of the trailer – if the damage is located on a weld, it could weaken that area causing structural damage. This is damage you won’t notice right away as most are lined on the side walls, which can hide damage for years. Is this going to become a warranty issue?? Will these problems that occur over the course of the year, be a factor in the stability of your trailer??

Consider your trade in value or if you ever need to sell – will that hailed out unit be worth top dollar at trade in time?? You do the math. Be sure to consider your trade in value – on average a hailed on unit with slight damage will take your trade in value down approx. 25%.
